Yesterday, team Stardust of SimLE Science Club conducted a successful stratospheric balloon mission!
The aim of the Stardust programme is to create a stratospheric platform allowing anyone to conduct near-space experiments. This is the first step on our way!
On board we hosted a few payloads, including:
- Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) from Quantum Cybersecurity Group,
- Seeds prepared by the Astrophysics Science Club,
- Analog and digital cameras.
On top of that we tested the tracking system and onboard computer as well as the mechanical cutter system.
The mission lifted off from Iława and after about 90 minutes reached 34 km in altitude. Then it safely descended under a parachute with a soft touchdown near Góra Dylewska, just 23 km from the launch location.
It couldn't be a better day, and a better team to pull all of this together. Huge thanks to the team: Magdalena Sadowska, Dominika Bagińska, Maciej Kapciński, Jakub Radgowski, Mateusz Gwozdowski and Nikodem Netkowski.
